Emma loves stories. As a documentary filmmaker she does research on different themes. For example the South African wine industry, land grabbing in Africa,… Her reports reveal the complexity, the wickedness of certain themes. She realizes that there is no one truth. From a very personal starting point she shows us the need for a different, truly sustainable approach.
Hans Bruyninckx has been the director of the European Environment Agency since 2013. With the testimony of Emma Lesuis in mind, he shows us why and how core systems of our society should change. He highlights the major challenge that research and educational institutions face. Developing strong disciplinary knowledge, they have to build equally strong interdisciplinary, integrated systemic knowledge.
There will be time for debate with the audience at the end of this session.
